Skills and Abilities of Mr Jean-Paul LAWRENCE TAMPU-EYA, BA LL.B. LL.M. PhD (Law Res.)
As a Doctor of Philosophy research candidate, I possess the Web Research Skills and am highly computer literate and am very experienced using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and exploring the Internet. My good knowledge of HTML combined with my excellent IT skills and abilities enable me to be very creative in my research. These skills constitute a weapon that makes my projects, presentation and other written work excellent, resourceful and easy to read and to understand.
I possess a strong writing ability with a good grasp of grammar, punctuation and copy-editing and have legal training, considerable management and organisational experiences. As a lawyer, I am always prudent and pay attention by reading all the details in any case. I am a skilled negotiator and team worker. I do understand not only the obvious needs of the parties or colleagues but also the emotional needs and am aware that team members work differently and sometimes adopt different styles of working. As a result, I am always observant of the attitudes and relationships that I have with each member of the team. In case of seeking support, I usually observe what my colleagues are doing and how easily they can support me with the minimum interruption. I also try to support others whenever they seek help from me. When I present information, I usually summarise relevant information while making sure that the latter is concise, simple and clear to the reader. The experience I acquired in working with the public taught me the value of tactical diplomacy as well as the degree of assertiveness and the attitude of being calm under pressure.
I am very skilled in liaising with people. From my communication skills and approaches The Medical Foundation entrusted me to represent them in many conference debates and I participated in several media interviews on BBC1, Channel 4, BBC World Service, Radio 4, and newspapers such as The Times about Congo and immigration/asylum issues, i.e. long delays and treatment of asylum seekers. As a result of this campaign, the UK government granted more than 30, 000 immigrants the right to stay. Further the postgraduate students of the University of East London elected me as their representative at the Subject Area-Committee from 1997/99. I represented students’ problems to the Course Co-ordinator and other teaching staff and contributed much on the philosophy, structure and running of the Master programmes, i.e. LL.M./MA. Further with the whole Committee, we modernised the Master Programme by indicating many matters to the Course Co-ordinator and the School of Law for consideration and adoption.
I can speak, read and write 7 languages fluently, two of which are international, i.e. French and English and five are Congolese mother tongues like Lingala and Kikongo.

I could also list updated news about my site's topic. For example, if my site were about a particular sport, I'd could discuss the outcome of a recent competition.
